COURSE OVERVIEW

The Postgraduate Certificate in Enhanced Neonatal Care will help staff working in this specialised clinical field to further develop and consolidate their knowledge and understanding.

You will learn clinical skills necessary to the holistic health and care needs of sick and premature newborn babies, including areas such as venepuncture and blood gas analysis, and practice these skills under expert supervision.

Modules

The aim of this module is to increase your underpinning knowledge and skills to enable you to safely undertake enhanced clinical skills associated with the holistic care and assessment of the neonate. The module covers physiology, biochemistry, research, ethics and critical thinking. This module will predominantly be delivered in practice by experienced Neonatal Practitioners and the practice and achievement of specific clinical skills will be supervised by an appropriately qualified mentor.

To apply for this course you must: be qualified in speciality with experience of caring for neonates; be currently working with neonates and have access to a suitable clinical mentor.
