The Postgraduate Certificate in Enhanced Neonatal Care will help staff working in this specialised clinical field to further develop and consolidate their knowledge and understanding.

You will learn clinical skills necessary to the holistic health and care needs of sick and premature newborn babies, including areas such as venepuncture and blood gas analysis, and practice these skills under expert supervision.

There are career opportunities as part of specialised neonatal care teams. You could also pursue opportunities in research, management, teaching, or as a consultant nurse.

Our career support services include:

  • Employability workshops, employers’ talks, bespoke events and careers fairs
  • Individual advice and guidance from professionally qualified Careers Advisers
  • Help with finding jobs, internships, work placements and volunteering opportunities
  • Access to information resources on a wide range of career management topics
  • Funding to support student internship opportunities and Student Society/Club events.

We also provide help and advice for Swansea University Alumni up to two years after you graduate.

The aim of this module is to increase your underpinning knowledge and skills to enable you to safely undertake enhanced clinical skills associated with the holistic care and assessment of the neonate. The module covers physiology, biochemistry, research, ethics and critical thinking. This module will predominantly be delivered in practice by experienced Neonatal Practitioners and the practice and achievement of specific clinical skills will be supervised by an appropriately qualified mentor.
