We specialise both in traditional historical-critical perspectives and more interdisciplinary approaches. You are at the right place if you want to deepen your knowledge in Biblical Studies and benefit from a stimulating and enriching research culture.Are you interested in the Hebrew Bible and its Languages? Are you passionate about Abraham, Moses, the Prophets, the Sages and their literature? Come and study with us for a PhD in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament.Research degrees guide you through an independent study that you have proposed. Your supervisor(s) will work with you to establish the resources that you need for the successful conclusion of your degree. This will probably include attending suitable courses (not for credit) in the School of Divinity or the wider university.If you have an area of study in mind, please send your transcript and draft proposal to a member of staff (see the Research Supervisor section below). You will need to demonstrate that you are ready for PhD study and your topic fits the research interests of a staff member.
