Course info

The Climate, Innovation and Sustainability Policy MPA prepares future decision-makers to tackle complex sustainability challenges, particularly concerning climate change. This means you'll graduate with the skills and knowledge to develop robust policies that align innovations with economic, social and environmental sustainability goals. Governments urgently need to improve well-being, address climate change, and support sustainable development. Despite growing investments in new and innovative technologies, many systems are in disrepair, facing significant policy and governance challenges. Technological and social innovations offer opportunities to make infrastructures more efficient and sustainable, deliver better services to people irrespective of their socio-economic status, and enable accelerated transition to sustainable futures. On this programme, you’ll explore contemporary climate issues and sustainability policy challenges at local, regional, national, and global levels, and consider the impact of new technologies and socio-technical innovations in changing societies. You’ll examine policy-making processes that are suited for inclusive governance of sustainability transitions in systems such as energy, mobility, food, water and healthcare. You will unpack new climate technologies and novel approaches to systemic innovation, addressing climate targets and uncertainties. You’ll graduate with the analytical skills to critically evaluate technical, policy and governance solutions and will be equipped with conceptual and methodological tools to identify, deeply understand and address complex sustainability problems. This professional, applied degree is ideal for graduates or professionals who wish to develop competencies in innovation and climate policies; or those with a background in social sciences or engineering who aim to work with policy and sustainability. No technical background is required, but students will engage with scientific and engineering concepts.
