  • Train in the development and operation of subsea technologies and systems, from wellhead to topside structure interconnections.
  • Learn to use analysis tools and techniques, specialist design software, standards for design improvements and performance optimisation.
  • Learn to apply engineering principles and analysis methods to the design and installation of subsea systems.

You’ll leave ready to take on technical leadership roles within the subsea industry. You’ll build your skills in project management, communication, report writing and problem-solving.

Graduate with the same accredited Masters qualification as you would on campus. Your degree will be recognised by industry employers around the world.

Accredited online degree

This online MSc is accredited by the:

  • Joint Board of Moderators
  • Energy Institute
  • Institution of Mechanical Engineers
  • Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology.

Assessment

This degree usually combines online assessment with written exams that you attend in person.

However, due to Covid-19, in-person exams will not take place until the September 2022 term at the earliest. Until then, we’ll be using alternative online assessments.

Careers

MSc Subsea Engineering will prepare you for career success in the subsea sector.

You’ll graduate with an accredited MSc in Subsea Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, one of the most respected degrees of its kind in the UK.

You’ll receive exactly the same degree qualification as you would on campus.

This degree focuses on every kind of marine operation in the offshore industry. This gives you many career routes to follow, including:

  • Analysis Engineer
  • Marine Contractor
  • Subsea Field Engineer
  • Subsea Installation Engineer.

Modules

The world is full of uncertainties and there is a level of risk in every human activity, including engineering. Many industries require an engineer to manage significant risks and design for high reliability, such as oil and gas, subsea, nuclear, aviation and large civil projects (e.g. bridges and dams). To meet these engineering challenges and make rational decisions in the presence of uncertainty, this course will introduce students to methods and tools used by engineers to analysis risk and reliability.
