Explore the causes and effects of some of the major threats that face global societies, with a focus on the interplay between gender and politics. This course allows you to explore key challenges that span global borders and communities and how to develop sustainable solutions to them. You’ll examine the politics and policymaking of global powers, paying close attention to how their decisions and interactions impact the management and maintenance of political order. This will deepen your understanding of the causes and consequences of major political issues, and equip you with the knowledge needed to address them effectively in a range of contexts. Specialise in gender politics On our MSc International Relations with Gender Politics pathway, you’ll build your understanding of the complex, intertwined relationship between gender and politics, and how it is shaped by global challenges. You’ll study the role of gender in an often-volatile international arena, exploring key areas including inequalities in domestic and international politics, approaches to diplomacy, human security and human rights, and peace processes. This will equip you with the skills to critically assess diverse perspectives and apply theories of gender analysis in the context of global politics. Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll have gained: in-depth and career-focused knowledge of how gender politics and policies impact global diplomacy, as well as economic and policymaking structures the ability to engage with communities and policymakers through effective advocacy a fundamental understanding of topics, such as global security and cybersecurity threats; changes of leadership and the emergence of new powers; and the evolving nature of international politics advanced research, analytical, and communication skills suitable for many roles in politics and policymaking, consulting, and policy advocacy.
