Course overview Built in collaboration with our corporate partners, the Birmingham MBA will challenge you to self-reflect and create your own business practices for a better world. Flexible and practical, the Birmingham MBA is designed to fit around your life and work. Course delivery Our Executive MBA includes a mix of learning and teaching methods. Each module runs for seven weeks combining online study with an in-person residential weekend. Online learning - study online at your own pace so you can complete your MBA around work and other commitments Residential weekends – meet other MBA candidates on your cohort, network and engage in professional development opportunities Purposeful Leader module – this a reflective and developmental module that includes career coaching encouraging you to explore your leadership and career aspirations in relation to your purposive values MBA Project - students must choose to complete a Company Project, Entrepreneurial Project or a Research Project Global immersive modules - optional one-week intensive modules delivered in a country with an economy that is markedly different to the UK

Accounting and Finance (10 Credits) - Core
By the end of the module students should be able to: Explain the role of finance and accounting personnel in providing information to managers; Interpret and critically appraise the main financial statements: the profit and loss account, the balance sheet and a cash flow statement; Critically evaluate the impact of cash-flow and its management; Analyse the principles and methods of costing, and how cost information can be used to support decision making; Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the main sources of finance for an organisation; Critically appraise the role of shareholders.

Entry requirements

Standard Requirements - You need a good Honours degree (or equivalent), or equivalent professional qualification. You must have a minimum of three years' professional experience. Usually, we expect Birmingham MBA candidates to have a minimum of five years professional experience. You must demonstrate career progression and managerial responsibilities, which could include people management, budget management or project management. We will also consider candidates without a first degree or professional qualification but with at least ten years work experience including significant managerial responsibility.
