The module deals with private equity and venture finance from inception of the idea, milestone planning, to the harvesting (exiting) of the investment. The first half of the module deals with new venture financing, the roles of the venture capitalist and the differences between entrepreneurial and ‘traditional’ corporate finance. The second half covers methods of the valuation of new ventures and alternative ways to harvest equity investments. In particular, we deal with the initial public offerings (IPO) process and financial performance of venture-backed- companies.

Entry requirements

12 month route: A good Honours degree (or equivalent), or equivalent professional qualification; Five years’ work experience with three years of professional finance-related work experience including managerial responsibility. 21 month route: A good Honours degree, demonstrated numeracy, and adequate preparation in Economics and Accounting; Minimum 3 years of professional finance-related work experience - with at least 12 months at managerial level or demonstrating professional responsibility. 24 month route: A good Honours degree (or equivalent),or equivalent professional qualification Minimum 3 years of professional finance-related work experience - with at least 12 months at managerial level or demonstrating professional responsibility.
