Course Summary

Overview

Our Master's in Management is designed to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills in business and management which reflect relevant research, best practice and innovative thinking to enhance your employability.

Designed for those wishing to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to their studies and seeking exposure to the widest possible range of business disciplines, our Master’s in Management is the first step for you to start an exciting career in business and management.

You do not need to have studied business/management at undergraduate level.

The aim is to produce fully rounded managers by combining a detailed treatment of subjects concerned with the management of organisations including:

  • Business Economics
  • Marketing Planning and Strategy
  • Strategic Management
  • Operations Management
  • Human Resource Development
  • Global Technology and Innovation Management

In addition, you will have the opportunity to tailor your learning to your own personal interests or planned career path. You can choose from a range of optional modules as part of our extensive postgraduate management portfolio.

Throughout this programme, you will be exposed to real business practice and learn from real-life examples, and our excellent teaching and collaboration with industry will give you an edge with employers.

Learning and assessment

The programme is summatively assessed by a mixture of written examinations, assessed coursework, case studies, group projects and multimedia presentations.

Assessment is integrated with learning and teaching to support and demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes for individual modules and the programme as a whole. Emphasis is placed on the feedback function of formative assessment as part of the learning, teaching and assessment strategy as a whole.

Career prospects

Our graduates are highly sought after for careers in management, consultancy or advanced management studies.

The sectors and jobs that our MSc students are employed in after graduation vary depending on their previous experience and pathway taken. In terms of career progression it is useful to consider where alumni are three years after graduation.

Modules

The module introduces and develops the concepts of strategic management in a critical way and focuses on the application of the relevant strategic management conceptual frameworks. The module enables students to examine an organisation and to evaluate its long-term prospects for success by an analysis of its strategy in relation to the environment in which it operates.
