If you are an experienced dentist, this part-time course will give you the skills to use conscious sedation safely and effectively.
You will gain the knowledge required for safe sedation according to national standards. You will also have the opportunity for supervised clinical experience at our University Dental Clinic in Preston.
On successful completion of this course, you'll be able to offer conscious sedation as a sedation-operator. You will feel confident in your ability to do so. You will be offered mentoring during and following completion of the course to support your transition to practise independently.
This course complies with national guidelines, including IACSD, Dental Faculties of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and Royal College of Anaesthetists.
You'll gain the knowledge and skills to practise safe and effective conscious sedation. You'll cover the sciences underpinning clinical procedures. You'll also be introduced to a range of techniques and perform under the supervision of an experienced clinical tutor.
This module will introduce topics related to conscious sedation. It will cover how to examine patients, create treatment plans, and identify potential complications. You will also learn how to apply health and safety legislation, and current guidelines. You'll look at how to establish ethical practice and legal issues and guidelines around this healthcare.
This module aims to equip you with the knowledge and clinical skills needed for safe and effective conscious sedation in primary dental care. It covers techniques for managing anxiety and behavior in dental care, taught by experts in Conscious Sedation.
