In response to the wider conservation and sustainability agenda, including the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) education and the launch of the Department of Education sustainability and climate change strategy, Chester Zoo and the University of Chester have developed a collaborative Postgraduate Certificate in Conservation and Sustainability Education.

This course will support professionals and those seeking a career in conservation and sustainability education to deliver initiatives and programmes that meet long-term goals and improve their organisation’s impact in tackling global conservation and sustainability priorities.

Modules

An introduction to programme design within the fields of conservation and sustainability education with an exploration of approaches to design and planning for different demographics. An exploration of conservation and sustainability education overarching goals and outcomes in relation to global conservation threats with contextualisation of conservation threats for education delivery.

Entry requirements

A 2:2 honours degree in any subject, and be engaged in, or aspire to work in, teaching and learning or public engagement with conservation and/or sustainability. Applicants with other degree classes and significant experience may be considered through interview and if they can demonstrate, on application, their ability to work at Level 7.
