This is one of the degrees pathways on the MSc International Business group of degrees. This degree allows you to focus on marketing and the management of human resources as your specialism. Alongside the core international business modules, you will study international human resource management and marketing as a creative practice, plus have a range of other options to choose from.
From your core, you will learn to understand and analyse a range of international strategies and business relevant for the modern global economy. You will also engage with key areas such as global risk analysis, global financial markets, international trade and global investment.
You will study a core project module. As part of this, you can undertake a global internship, work on an independent project with an organisation, or work on your own project independently.
When you start you join the 2 week Foundation Programme where you will learn more about all of our business conversion degrees and their pathways. You will make your final module choices and establish which degree pathway is right for you and your career. At the same time, you will be building your network of friends who will support you socially and with your studies while here in Dundee. The network of friends you make will most likely carry on through your career. The module consists of 28 hours of lectures supplemented by a series of workshops. The lectures will encompass the following topics: The historical development of human resource management; Introduction to underlying assumptions and theoretical models; The relationship of human resource management to overall organisational objectives, strategy and human resource planning; Recruitment and selection; Performance appraisal; Human resource development and Rewards management.

You will examine the fundamental concepts of international trade, finance and investment. It introduces the tools and techniques for asset pricing and capital budgeting, provides an overview of financial risk assessment and balance of payments and analyses the operation of the foreign exchange market and the determination of exchange rates. Topics you will cover include compounding, discounting and discounted cash flow analysis, the valuation of stocks and bonds in financial markets, the measurement of risk and the role of risk in asset pricing and financial decision-making, the balance of payments and the influence of macroeconomic factors on trade, the operation of currency markets and theories of exchange rate determination.

The course aims to provide the students with broad knowledge of the history of the development of multinational enterprises, the current status of the global market and conditions for multinational enterprises. The second aim is to provide the students with a set of tasks that prepare them for a career in which they solve the practical issues managers in MNEs face.

This module will introduce students to a wide range of human resource management issues faced by a multinational corporation operating within its international / global business environment. The module will exam the international business-related factors that impact upon the management of people within international organisations. By the end of this module student will be able to understand and assess the key differences in the management of employees in different countries and cultures.
