In this MSc, you will explore the human body’s structure and cover the analysis of human remains for legal purposes. Anatomy focuses on how organs and tissues connect, both at a whole-body and microscopic level, while forensic anthropology assists in identifying human remains in situations such as criminal cases, repatriation, mass disasters, and war crimes investigations. There are many reasons to choose this course: you will be taught by leading experts, including practising forensic specialists; the University of Dundee is home to the UK’s top Thiel embalming facility, transforming anatomy education; and you will have access to world-class skeletal collections for both learning and research. This course is hands-on and practical, allowing you to perform full-body dissection using Thiel-embalmed cadavers that retain real-life colour and flexibility, analyse skeletal remains to learn forensic identification, and produce forensic reports while gaining experience in presenting your findings. This MSc increases your employability by opening doors to careers in forensic science, healthcare, and academia, helping you develop key skills in skeletal analysis, forensic scientific reporting, and anatomical body dissection, all of which are essential for roles in forensic investigations and medical and anatomical education.
