Course Summary

The Civil Engineering with Environmental Management MSc course is a spin-off from the well-established MSc Civil Engineering course at the University of East London and provides advanced training for engineers and professionals concerned with building future cities and settlements as safe, sustainable, resilient and adaptable system of systems.

The course is multidisciplinary in nature and instates in students the capability of designing systems that are resilient to the extreme climates and emerging hazards, systems that have better symbiosis with natural environmental systems.

What You'll Learn

Whilst studying on the MSc in Civil Engineering and Environmental Management you will gain an in-depth knowledge of the most recent theories and practices in civil engineering. Gain a comprehensive understanding of principles and significance of engineering solutions that are cautious to the health of ecosystem health provisions and environmental spheres, and deploying these principles to enhance design and operation efficiency and an in-depth appreciation of greenhouse warming effect and the role of construction sector to combat this through adopting low carbon engineering interventions, waste management and use of alternative materials; also the impacts of design on the environment.

The programme will help you develop techniques for analysing and solving problems within the civil engineering context, understand the role of the engineer as an important professional in society and the sustainable built environment and deal with complex issues both systematically and creatively, make sound judgements in the absence of complete data, and communicate conclusions clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences and stakeholders.

We consistently review and develop our courses and modules to ensure they are up-to-date with sector and industry graduate skills demands. Course structure, modules and options are subject to change.

Your Future Career

Our Civil Engineering graduates are broadly employed by consultancies in private and public sector. This MSc course will prepare graduates for careers in a range of Engineering disciplines; opportunities from EIA consultancy, environmental technology consultancy and infrastructure engineering through to structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, highway engineering, and areas around engineering of smart infrastructure built environment.
