Course Summary

The programme is designed to meet the increasing demand for transport professionals with advanced skills in sustainable, integrated and intelligent transportation systems. The programme will provide you with the fundamental and advanced engineering knowledge that a modern transportation engineer needs for planning and managing a complex multi-modal transport system. The programme is aimed at both the home and overseas market and, in particular, professionals working in the highways, railway, aviation and the wider transportation infrastructure and systems sector or for students who would wish to work in these sectors. The programme offers not only a natural progression route for engineering graduates who want to enhance their qualifications at the master's level but is also suitable for professional town planners and/ or geography students.The course consists of a number of self-contained, taught modules, organised around the various areas of civil engineering. The range of subjects covered includes mental wealth: professional life, intelligent transport systems, soil structure engineering, and highway and railway engineering.The programme will provide learners with a stimulating learning environment for understanding the role of the engineer as an important professional in society. You will be taught using inclusive learning techniques including through lectures, tutorials, seminars, lab practicals, guest lectures, visits and virtual learning systems.Mental wealth/professional life skills are embedded in the programme to ensure that graduates are well prepared for existing industries as well as being ready for the Industrial Revolution 4.0 world of tomorrow.
