The University of Glasgow is home to the Scottish Centre for War Studies. You will be able to participate in regular research seminars on critical themes related to conflict as well as to related conferences. Our research strengths include: Scottish military history, Medieval warfare, Early modern warfare, The Napoleonic Wars, Colonial conflict and violence, Nineteenth and Twentieth Century international relations, Intelligence and international relations, The Global Cold War, Ideas of peace and peace movements, Conflict archaeology, Ethics of war and humanitarian intervention, Insurgency and counter-insurgency, Genocide in a global perspective, International security from historical and contemporary perspectives. Each research student will work under the supervision of two members of staff familiar with the student's field of inquiry. Prospective students are encouraged to discuss their research ideas with members of staff who are specialists in their fields of interest before applying.
