Course Summary

Drawing on your existing animation skills, you will develop a longer-form animated film, serial or series, festival film, or other industry-related product, and prepare to ‘take it to market’.

You will work on story development and will learn how to prepare a treatment or step outline. You will make practical materials and animated footage, learn the art of self-promotion, and gain the relevant skills to build an electronic press kit and pitch bible.

Emphasis will be placed on pitching, which you rehearse and refine in front of your peers, tutors, and industry professionals. You will also become skilled in contextualising your own work and will be required to engage in critical theory as a means of exploring this.

Study style

This hands-on, practical course will be delivered through lectures, specialist workshops, critiques, masterclasses, guest panels and one-to-one tutorial. Assessment is both practical and written.

All of your efforts culminate in the final major project: ‘Greenlight: Pitch Ready’, where you’ll prepare your final animated series or long form film sequences to pitch to industry.
