What is Human Resource Management MSc?

Deepen your understanding of human resource management and network alongside professionals with a rich mix of experiences. Directly aligned to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) knowledge requirements, the MSc and PGDip in Human Resource Management offers you the opportunity to build your network. You’ll be studying as part of a community of students with a rich mix of professional experiences which will enhance your awareness.

The programmes are designed to develop your strategic thinking skills as you deepen your understanding of how human resource management creates competitive advantage for organisations.

Study for a Master’s

By studying full-time, including day and evening attendance subject to timetabling, you will gain the knowledge requirements for Full Membership of the CIPD. You’ll study alongside part-time students who are also practitioners – this creates a rich learning community where professional experiences can be shared and discussed. The course places a strong emphasis on active learning and business application to complement theory.

You’ll have the opportunity to attend an employment tribunal or other HR related events; you will also be required to attend on-campus CIPD events to enhance your knowledge and expand your professional network.

Possible careers

Advance your career within Human Resource Management or Human Resource Development by working towards senior manager and director level positions. Successful completion of the MSc Human Resource Management and Postgraduate Diploma offers Associate membership of the CIPD and provides the basis to work towards CIPD Chartered Member status.

Modules

Business Decision Making (BM7102)
The module aims to provide students with an applied understanding of business decision making by focusing on behavioural and management science approaches. It utilises these two approaches to evaluate the reality of practical decision making. The role of intuitive versus analytical approaches to decision making will also be explored and how approaches to Decision Making can influence sustained development and innovation in business.
