Course Summary

Modules

This module concentrates on drawing together students? previous research knowledge and experience at undergraduate level, challenging their understanding of academic research and of applied research within the design industries. The module offers students a broad grounding in methods and processes of social science research and prepares them with the understanding and skills needed to rigorously design, conduct, report and evaluate research. Students will be exposed to a variety of cutting-edge research practices and will also be introduced to opportunities and challenges of conducting applied research using some of the main data collection and analysis techniques that are relevant to industry. The course is built around three complementary strands: Advanced social science research training; discipline specific research training; industry research commissioning and interpretation.

Entry requirements

At least a 2.2 honours degree or equivalent in landscape architecture or landscape design (for direct entry onto the MA, or an undergraduate degree in any field of 2:2 or above for the conversion MA). Applicants for this course will be invited to attend an interview. A portfolio of work is essential.
