Course Summary

This course covers the critical elements of finance and technology, and how these two forces are shaping the future of finance. We help prepare for a career in a rapidly growing and in demand sector.

Fintech is rapidly becoming an established new finance paradigm. It is a fusion of finance and technology to create new, more dynamic services and a new class of financial assets. This programme will critically assess the operations, benefits and issues with cryptoassets such as cryptocurrencies, tokens as well as more traditionally based innovations such as digital only banks and payments systems. The programme will give students an understanding of the main technical analysis techniques, for example machine learning and python programming, used throughout the fintech world.

Modules

The aim of the module is to develop students’ academic communicative competencies in line with the educational conventions of UK HEIs and to facilitate transition into that culture. In addition, it aims to support international postgraduate students in developing their understanding of the demands of studying at postgraduate level in a UK university and their ability to use English for academic purposes in a Postgraduate UK environment. This online course further aims to develop international postgraduate students’ English language knowledge, as well as their academic writing skills. It will also allow students to gain a better understanding of research skills and the need to use clear and consistent systems of sourcing, paraphrasing and referencing as well as an ability to put such systems into practice.
