Course Summary

This Healthcare Practice MA is a top-up degree comprising two modules to develop your leadership skills, your academic rigour and your ability to link research to practice. You will build on your existing postgraduate award and increase your confidence in appraisal of literature. The course is ideal if you have a postgraduate diploma or 120 credits at Level 7 and wish to build on them for a Master's degree in Healthcare Practice.

Employers are seeking people with competent research skills to deliver evidence-based practice. You will develop these skills with an independent research-informed study, in which you devise and propose a project for change, undertake an audit or service evaluation or an extended literature review on a topic of your choice. With us, you will become an independent thinker who is knowledgeable about ethics and technologically confident in unfamiliar situations.

This qualification enables you to apply for senior grades requiring Master's-level qualifications in fields such as nursing, health visiting, speech and language therapy, health promotions and public health. As a Healthcare Practice graduate, you will have enhanced your ability to synthesise reflective skills and critical enquiry. This will support you in management and leadership positions as well as any research focused role in practice. It will also support your professional development towards an academic career. Studying this course as associate students with a Bachelor's degree provides the opportunity to study our new dissemination course at Level 7.

Modules

The module provides the students with the opportunity to undertake an independent study which is, at least in part, original in concept. The module supports them in the development of understanding and skills required to carry out a project of enquiry, such as a practice-related audit, extended critical review of literature or change initiative in practice.
