Course Summary

This Master’s in Safety, Health and Environment covers all aspects of occupational safety, health and environment, with emphasis on learning and research. This distance-learning course teaches you to help prevent accidents, ill health and other losses arising from work and work activities. Safety professionals are increasingly responsible for environment-related issues, and this is reflected in the topics studied in this MSc Safety, Health and Environment. We aim to help you develop research and analytical skills, and to gain a wider and more in-depth understanding of occupational health theory and practice. By studying critical thinking, you gain the necessary skills for the rest of the course. Growing concern about climate change also informs our approach to environmental issues in the workplace.

The course can greatly enhance your international career opportunities. Nearly all who study it aim to improve on their current roles (on joining) and see the the course as a means to change careers. Modules

The module aims to: explore, evaluate and build on the existing theory and practice associated with physical agents found in the workplace; introduce and develop an appreciation and understanding of risk that the different types of physical agents can present to workers and other people affected by them; develop a framework for rational decision making in managing physical agents in the workplace; develop skills and decision-making when presented with harmful physical agents in the workplace.

Entry requirements

You should have a good honours degree in Business, Health, HR or a science or engineering subject. You should also be working in, or wish to work in, the general field of occupational health and safety. We will also consider appropriate Health and Safety Level 6 qualifications, or professional qualifications with relevant experience, or other qualifications equivalent to the above.
