Course Summary

About the course

This course is specifically aimed at International students, supporting those wishing to gain practical work based experiential learning. Together with studying your chosen course we are offering an additional 6-month placement opportunity, making the course 18 months in length. This allows students to put into practice the skills and techniques developed throughout the Master’s degree within a UK environment after completing the 12-month taught programme.

This course has a key focus on how national, regional and international initiatives regulate the ever-changing dynamics of financial and cultural globalisation, including how these affect respect for human rights in contemporary society.

You will have the opportunity to gain a critical understanding of the rapidly changing and dynamic international business environment, and the skills needed to analyse the activities and strategies of multinational enterprises. This programme will provide the opportunity for you to study a wide range of topics in international business, from both a theoretical and practical perspective. The course is designed to enable you to tailor it to your own personal and career interests, with a number of option modules available.

Placements

This course offers you the chance to undertake a 6 month placement at the end of the taught element. A placement can help you build on the knowledge and skills developed on the course.

The placement is a valuable tool that can enhance your employability and help you to develop as an individual. It is acknowledged that graduates with work experience are generally much more attractive to employers.

Our Employability and Placements Office are available to support you in finding placement opportunities and can provide advice in areas such as interview skills and preparing CVs and covering letters.

Career support

Whether you’re progressing from education or currently working within the industry, our postgraduate courses aim to provide you with the required knowledge, skills and experience; as well as challenge your approach to complex situations. By taking the opportunity for practical placement experience, team working opportunities and specialist knowledge of your chosen pathway, we can help develop your ability to work collaboratively and apply theory to real-life situations.

Modules

This module is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of the major issues that businesses are confronted with when operating in international markets. Given the complex and inter-related nature of the international business environment, it is important for you to understand, for example, how the social, economic, political, legal and financial factors have influenced, and continue to influence international business. You can also develop your intellectual capacities by applying the international business theory and techniques to complex business scenarios. In addition, you will have the opportunity to explore the ethical issues in international business.
