Course Summary

This course gives you the perfect opportunity to strengthen your academic credentials in preparation for a career in Clinical Psychology and/or other professions in the area of mental health. It has been designed to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills in core theoretical, methodological, and empirical areas of Clinical Psychology. Youll develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed for progression to the Doctor of Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) courses which youll need to undertake if you aspire to take on a leading role in Clinical Psychology in the NHS, private practice or other related fields. Our programme strengthens your academic credentials in preparation for a career in Clinical Psychology (for example through Assistant Psychologist posts within the NHS and further competitive doctoral training in Clinical Psychology). Youll also strengthen your CV in preparation for other professions in the areas of Clinical Psychology, mental health, academia, or research.

Modules

PS4650: Clinical Psychology across the Lifespan - Core
In this module, you will learn about the theoretical and empirical backgrounds of clinical psychology and explore the issues in dealing with different client groups. You will also work on case studies to develop your knowledge and skills in problem-solving.
PS4651: Professional Issues & Practice in Clinical Psychology - Core
PS4652: Clinical Research Design & Processes - Core
PS4653: Research Methods & Statistics for Clinical Psychologists - Core
PS4654: Clinical Skills - Core
PS4656: Advanced Clinical Psychology Project - Core
