Course info

We are leaders in practice-based research methodologies in composition and performance. The work of our award-winning composers embraces acoustic, electronic and computer composition, and engages with multi-disciplinary approaches to creativity. We work closely with internationally recognised performers and we engage in collaborative compositional processes, while our researchers explore the integration of research and performance. The cluster encompasses a broad range of practice research including but not limited to composition, performance, improvisation, technological innovation and applied research. Areas of study can be interdisciplinary and cover a broad range of aesthetics of creativity, performance practices including historically informed approaches, areas of both performer/the instrumental and conducting, and critical and experimental methodologies as well as the composer-performer interface/aspects of collaboration.
