Course info

We explore changes in the nervous, cardiorespiratory, vascular, and muscular systems to uncover the fundamental mechanisms at rest and during exercise that maintain health and performance, and drive disease progression, prevention and rehabilitation. We do this by examining multiple biological scales, from molecules, cells and organs to the whole body system, and perform lab, clinical, and community work with multidisciplinary approaches that include physiology, motor control, biomechanics and psychology. Our research provides evidence to support new therapies and interventions tailored to diverse age groups and health conditions, as well as policies and programs which promote disease prevention and encourage active lifestyles.
