Course Summary

Course description

With the Leicester Global MBA you learn from a pioneer in global executive education with a strong international reputation. When it launched in 1989, the Leicester Global MBA was one of the first AMBA accredited distance learning MBA programmes in the world. Today, over 12,000 Leicester Global MBA alumni worldwide are a testament to our expertise and experience in helping professionals succeed and being a student with us gives you access to this network of international business leaders.

With the Leicester Global MBA you can study fully online and benefit from face-to-face learning to suit your needs. Our online learning environment lets you study anytime, anywhere and includes lectures, live seminars and workshops, interaction with tutors and students and our online study guides. Each year you can attend our annual Leicester Masterclass that takes place at Brookfield, our new £16 million School of Business campus.

All teaching is delivered by School of Business academic staff who combine teaching with research and bring the latest knowledge and skills to their teaching. You'll study in small groups with extensive opportunities for teamwork allowing you to build your professional networks with fellow students and tutors.

When you take the Leicester Global MBA you'll have the opportunity to specialise your degree, tailoring the course to meet your needs. You have the choice of studying for a general MBA or following one of our three specialist routes: Finance; Human Resource Management; Marketing.

The Leicester Global MBA offers a great return on investment because you can continue to work while you are gaining a valuable qualification. By studying whilst you work, you, your team, and your company immediately benefit from your newly gained knowledge and skills. You'll also benefit from the opportunity to undertake assignments and the MBA Project on the topics relevant to your work and professional career aspirations.

Careers and employability

We recognise that career development is a major factor in your decision to embark on an MBA programme. With the Leicester Global MBA you will have extensive career support from the start – and after you graduate. As soon as you register on the programme, you get access to both the School of Business Careers Team and the University of Leicester Career Development Team, plus a suite of Professional Development Resources.

The Leicester Global MBA careers support is comprehensive and designed to support your personal and professional development so that you have positive business impact. The structured support will help you build a clearer picture of options and ensures you can confidently articulate your capabilities.

The module comprises two parts: The introductory part of the module provides an induction to the Leicester MBA programme. In this section you'll learn what, why and how you'll study in the programme, and the Leicester MBA values and expectations. You'll learn how to navigate our virtual learning environment, interact with tutors and students, and access resources to support your study. You'll assess different approaches to learning and apply them to develop your own study skills, and develop an appropriate study plan to meet the programme’s expectations. The rest of the module is devoted to learning how to manage people. All managers would agree that managing people effectively is an important ingredient of personal and organisational effectiveness. Managing people and interpersonal relationships requires both knowledge and skills. Common sense, practical experience, and good intuition may be helpful, but they are not sufficient. Fortunately, there is a vast amount of scientific research that can be used to enhance the effective management of people and improve interpersonal skills.
