Course Summary

Our PhD/MPhil Psychiatry programme enables you to undertake a research project that will improve understanding of Psychiatry. Our academics have internationally outstanding knowledge and expertise in conducting research studies in child and adolescent, adult and old age psychiatry. Particular strengths include: severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (including the prodromal stages of these conditions) dementia depression anxiety disorders personality disorders autism spectrum disorder attachment disorders self-harm and suicide homicide and other forms of interpersonal violence forensic psychiatry neurobiological and imaging studies psychiatric epidemiology.

Entry requirements

We require applicants to hold, or be about to obtain, an Upper Second class Honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in a related subject area for entry to a PhD programme. A Lower Second class Honours degree may be considered if applicants also hold a Master's degree with a Merit classification.
