Our academic stroke group performs world-leading research into the pathogenesis, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prevention of stroke, vascular dementia/cerebral small vessel disease and other age-related neurovascular complications. Our Stroke Trials Unit (STU) hosts leading research in the UK and internationally with an annual multi-million-pound grant income. We have an international reputation for developing experimental models of human blood-brain barrier and cell-based therapeutics and endothelial ageing.
