Course Summary

This course has been designed to provide a challenging and broad management education, balancing theory and practice with personal development and the development of transferable and discipline specific skills. It will provide you with learning opportunities to progressively develop intellectual knowledge and professional and transferrable skills that enhance employability and leadership development. There is an emphasis on understanding, responding to and shaping the dynamic and changing nature of business, including consideration of the future of organisations within the global environment, the responsible adoption of AI, leading and managing in the digital age, ethical and responsible leadership for sustainability, and the harnessing of innovation for organisational growth.

Throughout the programme, you will be provided with opportunities to apply your theoretical knowledge to real-world problems and live business projects in collaboration with external partners. You will also develop a range of skills and attributes particularly relevant to business and management, such as commercial acumen, analytical thinking and problem solving, critical thinking, entrepreneurial mindset, ability to innovate, awareness of risk, and the ability to influence and work with others. In doing so, you will develop into an enterprising and responsible leader who is globally, socially, and ethically aware of the contemporary business environment within which businesses operates.?

Modules

This module will cover the core topics within financial and management accounting that are required to be an effective and strategic manager. The module will begin by consider the strategic role and scope of accounting and finance in organisations. You will then examine key approaches to accounting and financial analyses and will learn how to interpret select accounting and financial data to inform management decision making. Consideration will also be given to key trends in the digital environment of finance and their implications for organisations. The module will conclude with an examination of the need for legal compliance and ethical conduct in the reporting of financial performance.
