Taught
The Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Health Care Professionals is specifically designed to prepare registered health care professionals to develop and adopt an educational role across a range of settings, both academic and practice based.
Participants will have a genuine interest in supporting learning and the development of effective learning environments.
You will develop your learning and teaching skills in a variety of state-of-the-art facilities, including the University's Clinical Simulation Centre and Hydra Simulation Centre.
What's more, you will be supported to develop specific innovations in relation to facilitating learning and be encouraged to disseminate these within your peer-group and own settings.
For healthcare professionals registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the course reflects the significant changes made in 2018 by the NMC. Successful completion will enable these students to fulfill the new roles of practice / academic assessor.
Assessment
Participants will have two summative observed facilitations of learning / assessment opportunities with students. The participants will critically reflect and develop from the feedback on these sessions.
Core to being an effective facilitator of learning is to be able to develop and enhance the learning experience, therefore an element of assessment will focus on developing and leading an initiative within the participant's context of practice to enhance the students and others learning experience.
Careers
The Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Health Care Professionals will support the development of health care professionals who wish to consider a teaching and learning role in a Higher Education setting.

Applicants must hold a 2:2 or above in a degree and have evidence of recent engagement with CPD activities. They must also be in a role whereby they are able to facilitate learning and assessment of learning.
