Course Summary

The postgraduate Allergy programmes draw on our clinical, research and education strengths. The multidisciplinary nature makes it suitable for GPs, hospital-based doctors, nurses, dietitians and scientists who are involved with adult and paediatric patients. You will be brought up to date with current best practice, allowing you to improve your management of patients with allergies. You will also gain the skills to share your allergy knowledge with colleagues and patients. Our flexible postgraduate course offers you the option of tailoring your learning to suit your needs. You can choose from studying single modules, PG Certificate, PG Diploma or the full MSc Allergy. We have full time and part time study options.

Assessment methods (Outcome qualification level): Assessments vary but may include: presentations, reflective accounts and written assignments, clinical case reports, data analysis and reporting. There is also a science e-learning package available with self-assessment.

Modules

It is well established that there is "cross talk" between the upper and lower airways, so this integrated module will deal with the entire respiratory system. Normal physiology and anatomy will be taught, along with the diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and psychology of disease. Generic aspects of airways disease such as epidemiology and quality of life issues will also be explored. Throughout the module, you will explore topics by interpreting clinical scenarios to reinforce your learning.
