Course Summary

On this course you'll recieve an excellent preparation for a career as an audiologist or with a means to advance your career in audiology. You'll learn audiology techniques in practicals, be introduced to patient care in the taster audiology clinics and discover more about cochlear implantation via our in-house auditory implant service. The two-year MSc Audiology (with clinical placement) includes at least 40 weeks of clinical placement and is accredited by the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists, making you eligible to register as an audiologist and work in the NHS on completion. This degree is also available to study over 3 years. In this situation your first year is studied full-time, and your clinical placement is studied part-time over 2 years.

Examinations, individual and group assignments, practical assignments, reflective accounts, critical appraisals, presentations, independent research project.

Modules

The aim of the module is to equip the student with the knowledge and understanding of what good research is in the area of Audiology and how it is performed, with skills to critically appraise research and with skills to support their research project in FEEG6012. The module comprises a number of lectures on various topics around the concept of research, experimental design, gathering and analysing data. This will provide a broad overview of research methodologies that enables the students to design, perform, analyse and report an in-depth research project in Audiology.
