This course explores a variety of topics relating to the history and culture of the Middle East, including social, political, cultural and intellectual history. You can choose from a range of fields of study and learn about methodological and analytical approaches, including Orientalism. Choose from the following fields: classical Islamic history (Umayyads and Abbasids) the Seljuks the medieval Islamic east medieval Anatolia the Ayyubid and Mamluk Near East Ottoman History medieval Armenia Islamic intellectual history
