Business education teachers are often the ‘go to’ teachers for technological innovation and advice. Therefore, the course uses a range of applications and digital platforms, and you will be supported to develop your own skills in using these with pupils. You will have the opportunity to undertake the Microsoft Innovative Educator and Apple Teacher awards on this course.

Modules

In this module, you'll explore the theoretical underpinnings of education. You'll be encouraged to engage with issues of the nature and the purpose of education, social justice and equality, and practice and policy in relation to ethical and political ideas. Throughout this module, we aim to disrupt and expand your thinking about education. You'll be asked to reflect on your values and beliefs in relation to a range of educational questions and issues and you will be presented with questions designed to challenge and refine your current thinking.

Entry requirements

An ordinary degree, or international equivalent.

Additional requirements

You must have a relevant degree with at least 80 credits at Level 7 or 8 from at least two of the following subject areas:

  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Business or Business Management

Examples of relevant content includes, but is not limited to:

  • Economics: macro and micro economics theory
  • Accounting: financial accounting, management accounting and double entry book-keeping
  • Business or Business Management: marketing, human resources, management theory, business operations, business law, global/international business, risk management 

You must also provide evidence of Information Technology skills, including databases, spreadsheets and office IT. 

IT qualification

Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of study within eight years of the course start date related to relevant Information Technology Skills. Alternatively applicants must be able to demonstrate recent use in industry of Microsoft Office packages.
