Course Summary

Overview

The PGCE in Early Years Teaching is ideal for people living outside of the UK who already work, or have the desire to work, with children aged 0-5.

If you want to develop a specialism or further enhance your professionalism in teaching young children up to the age of five, then this course is for you.

This course is aimed at professionals/practitioners who will engage in an intensive one year blended learning programme to acquire knowledge, understanding and skills with regard to working with children and families in the international early years context. Our course is unique and distinctive in that it offers a highly flexible mode of learning with course delivery and assessment entirely via distance using our university VLE (virtual learning environment), without ever having to come to the UK.

Career ready

This degree is ideal for teachers and other people working with children aged 0-5. It has the potential to qualify you for a range of positions in teaching and learning and educational management in schools and educational institutions around the world.

Modules

This is an academic module, at Master?s level, where you conduct action research in your setting. You are asked to identify, implement and evaluate a project to develop effective communication, partnership and practice with parents and setting staff that supports the well-being and development of the child. In line with the cyclical nature of action research, you will try out some new techniques, make on-going amendments to your techniques and practice, collect data on it all, and then write it all up in a final report. You will need to submit a research proposal for this too, to tell us what you are going to do before you begin.
