Course Summary

This Master’s degree is designed for individuals who wish to work as sports nutrition practitioners or sports nutritionists.

Sports Nutrition is a growing area in sport and the programme has been designed to meet the needs of those who wish to work in this field of sport. There is currently a high demand for practitioners who have the skills to work in sport.

The programme will give you the knowledge and skills needed to become a sports nutrition practitioner / sports nutritionist.

This exciting new course has been designed to allow students to attend at weekends with a mix of taught and blended learning, enabling students to balance work and study.

The programme has been mapped to the competencies of the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) and the programme has SENr accreditation.

What you will learn

The role of nutrition in sports performance is now seen as an important part of an all athlete’s preparation and training programme.

You will learn about the principles of sports nutrition and fitness that are based on up to date and current theories and evidence. This will enable you to turn theory into practice and advice athletes from all sports to maximise their performance.

Career Opportunities

Graduates will go on to work with elite and recreational athletes across a range of sports. Many Sports Governing Bodies require at least Practitioner status to work for them.

There are increasing opportunities to work in a variety of sports or to set up a business working with elite and recreational athletes. The opportunities are endless.

Our lecturers are also practitioners themselves and have a wealth of experience that helps to guide your career.

Entry requirements

Prospective students should normally have first completed a degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Sport and Exercise Science, Human Biology, Exercise Physiology or similar, gaining at least a 2:2 classification. This is an important consideration if students wish to become a Registrant of the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register Practitioner.
