Course info

In addition to core modules providing a grounding in statistical theory, methods and applications, this route is centred on the core module ST964 Introduction to Advanced Probability, which introduces measure-theoretic probability. Students then choose from a selection of modules in stochastic modelling and its applications, which may include subjects such as Brownian motion, applied stochastic processes, and dynamic stochastic control. This is further augmented by optional modules chosen to either broaden your background in pure and applied probability from the Mathematics Institute or to strengthen your statistical knowledge. Subjects may include stochastic analysis, the theory of random graphs, statistical mechanics, Bayesian forecasting and multivariate statistics. This route is designed for students with a strong aptitude for formal mathematics who desire to master the theoretical underpinnings of uncertainty and randomness.
