Learning Disabilities Nursing students receive a non-repayable Government grant of £5,000 a year, plus a specialist subject grant of £1,000. There is also additional financial support available - see our Fees and Funding section for more details. Be eligible to apply to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Learning Disabilities Nurse in just two years, on our PgDip Nursing course. This two-year course has been designed for candidates with an undergraduate degree in any subject. It will prepare you to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities. You will learn how to assess the often complex social and healthcare needs and support the delivery of robust, evidence-based care plans. This course has been approved against the Nursing and Midwifery Council Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses. These standards set out the knowledge and skills you will learn as the next generation of learning disabilities nurses. Top-up to a Masters After successful completion of this course, you will have four years to top up to a Masters degree, via part-time study. Find out more about our MSc Nursing (Top-up). Location This course is delivered at our West London campus. We also offer it at our Reading campus in Berkshire. As you will spend half your time gaining experience on placement, you should choose a course location that you can travel to easily.
