Through studying your PGCE at York, you will work with schools across the regionto focus on the ever-changing landscape of education.

Through bespoke subject-specific training programmes, you will’ll work with leading subject experts throughout your training, gaining practical active experience both in placement and in University/Lead Partner school sessions. You will'll also benefit from our expertise as a leading centre for curriculum development, professional training and research.

Take your next step into teaching. This course will prepare you to teach National Curriculum at KS3 and KS4 (11-16) with a post-16 enhancement, specialising in English. This course is delivered through a University-based core route. and through our partnership with the Nicholas Postgate Academy Trust (NPCAT). We also work in partnership with the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust (NPCAT) and Queen Ethelburga’s (QE).

Entry requirements

2:2 or equivalent in English. We also accept combined honours degrees where English makes up at least 50% of the award.

If your undergraduate degree is not in English or a related subject, we may still may be able to offer you a place if you also have a postgraduate degree in English or Grade B in A level English Literature and/or English Language.

If your undergraduate degree is not at least 50% English, we may require you to undertake a Subject Knowledge Enhancement course prior to starting your PGCE.
