This doctoral programme involves interdisciplinary research that cuts across these two disciplines. Students are jointly supervised by a member of the Department of Environment and Geography and the Department of Politics and International Relations. Both Departments have strong research cultures: Environment has a graduate research school of around 40 students and Politics has around 50 research students. Our research is organised across four research clusters, each with a disciplinary focus. Our research clusters are: Comparative Politics and Public Policy; International Studies; Political Economy; and Political Theory.We offer a wide range of funding to students from the UK and overseas. We have opportunities funded by research councils, the University, and the department as well as opportunities for self-funding students and those with scholarships from their home country.
