Course info

York is one of the world's leading institutions for the study of medieval language and literature. The scope of our School's research is extraordinarily diverse, encompassing the literatures of medieval England and continental Europe from late antiquity to around 1500. Our linguistic expertise covers Arabic, Latin, Old Norse, French, Irish, Italian and Welsh as well as Old and Middle English. Ranging from manuscript dissemination to medieval multiculturalism, and from Beowulf to Dante, our medievalists are engaged with an array of topics.
