Course Summary

Develop and refine your skills in contemporary physiotherapeutic practice by engaging with practical research on this accredited MSc. If you are looking for a career as a physiotherapist, our qualifying Physiotherapy MSc is the course for you. You will expand on the knowledge gained on your undergraduate degree and when you graduate will be eligible to seek registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. You will also gain membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. This will lead to you being granted the protected title of Chartered Physiotherapist.

By setting the core physiotherapy skills into practical situations, you will develop into a practitioner who is primarily focused on your clients. You will apply and analyse contemporary practice, while using evidence to determine the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic techniques. This will help you to recognise and solve clinical problems and improve service user outcomes. You will consider the role of different professions and how they work alongside physiotherapists. You will do this through case scenarios, case discussion and visiting speakers from a variety of different clinical environments. Some of the things you will study include:

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Professionalism in Healthcare
  • Musculoskeletal Conditions
  • Neurological Conditions
  • Cardiovascular Respiratory Conditions
  • Normal Development & Paediatrics

We will encourage you to problem solve and discuss case scenarios with your fellow physiotherapy students. This is a model that follows current best practices within health and social care settings. Through this course you will learn leadership skills and engage in service development projects. While studying, you will learn to adapt to the changing needs of service users and changing health and social care provision.

Other opportunities for inter-professional learning are on offer throughout the 1000 professional practice placement hours. You will work alongside and shadow other health professionals. You will explore how services and professions work together to meet the needs of service users.

Modules

On this module you will take a client centred approach to problem solving. You will demonstrate clinical reasoning through the physiotherapeutic management of cardiovascular, respiratory, neurology and musculoskeletal systems. This is an opportunity to acquire rehabilitation and health promotion knowledge and skills while evaluating the physical and psychosocial benefits for the patient.
