MA - Master of Arts
Human Resources Management
Taught
Overview
This course aims to extend your understanding of business and personnel and the impact their management can have on successful organisations with our Human Resource Management MA, which can be studied full or part-time.
The management and development of human resources is a challenging task in any organisation. As the rapid pace of technological change continues, markets expand internationally and legislation becomes increasingly complex, and so the need to ensure both the business and its personnel adapt accordingly has become ever more important.
This Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) accredited course* is designed for those who want to pursue senior level careers in human resource management (HRM). We aim to cover the essential theoretical knowledge, intellectual frameworks and practical skills required by today’s employers in a range of business contexts.
Course information
Human Resource Management (HRM) examines the processes and principles associated with the management of work and people.
HR professionals and managers operate within increasingly complex and changing organisational and contextual circumstances, whether in the market, public or ‘third’ sectors irrespective of the size of their organisations or the types of goods or services provided.
This programme of study has been designed to meet and reflect the CIPD’s* current professional standards and expectations, designed to broaden your awareness of HR generalist and specialist functions in a UK and international context, considering how internal and external context impact upon HRM, the role of the HR practitioner and how HRM can lead to better work and better working lives.
Career prospects
Within an internationally diverse learning environment, upon successful completion of the course you should gain a clear understanding of a broad range of HR, managerial and business principles, practices and competencies.
You should develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and become a reflective HR professional with an appreciation of how properly conducted research can enhance your performance as a future manager.
