Course Summary

This course aims to give you a broad range of tourism knowledge. The tourism industry can make legitimate claims for being the largest global industry. This is not difficult to appreciate, when one considers that it includes the hospitality, transport and the visitor attraction sectors. It is also an industry which increasingly needs managers who understand the ever-changing operating conditions generated by the complex interactions of global economies and political systems. In this course, we will prepare you to work in this exciting, dynamic sector, developing both your management skills and subject knowledge of the tourism industry. You will explore a wide range of issues and situations, which have a strong practitioner focus, in order to develop both decision making skills and add depth to your subject ere are also opportunities for you to develop your capabilities in strategic thinking, effective communication and research. Combining theory and practice, this course aims to provide a strategic and conceptual understanding of the contemporary tourism sector. It will raise critical awareness of the current trends and challenges in the field, from sustainable tourism development, to digital marketing and cultural heritage management. There are also opportunities for you to develop your capabilities in strategic thinking, effective communication and research.
