Course Summary

The MSc in Clinical Pharmacy programme has been designed to meet the professional development requirements of pharmacists working in a wide variety of sectors and environments. The programme consists of clinical and practice modules with real life application. The course requires minimal attendance using blended learning to meet the individual needs of students. Network with and study alongside pharmacists working in a wide variety of clinical environments. Develop your critical thinking and research skills to deliver high quality patient care.

Modules

This module enables students to develop the necessary understanding and skills to facilitate the delivery of pharmaceutical care in the clinical areas of respiratory and cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Topics covered include: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, respiratory infections, atrial fibrillation, acute coronary syndrome, hypertension, cerebral vascular attack, transient ischaemic attack, cardiac failure, diabetes type I and type II and incident reporting. The module also enables students to develop critical analysis, medicines optimisation, reflective and presentation skills.

Entry requirements

Students must have a second class honours, lower division (2:2), degree in pharmacy, or above, or equivalent degree qualification Registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), Pharmaceutical Council of Northern Ireland, or Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland; Practising in a patient-facing role at least one day a week.
