Teaching and assessment

The LLM is studied by distance learning and is fully assessed by coursework and a dissertation. The distance learning mode involves optional attendance at Leicester De Montfort Law School, for a maximum of ten Saturday study days during the period of study. The course is structured in a way that allows you to exit at one of several points, if desired, each with a postgraduate award.

Modules

This module you will look at the historical development of the legal regulation of the environment. You will further examine the UK and EU legal systems in which environmental law is framed and gain an understanding of use of civil penalties in an environmental law context.

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally hold an undergraduate degree in any subject with a minimum pass of 2:2, or equivalent overseas qualification, or an appropriate professional qualification. Some background knowledge of law is useful , but a degree in law is not essential.
