Based in the North West town of Ormskirk, Edge Hill originally started life as a teacher training college in Liverpool. These days it has 5,000 full and part-time postgraduate students, alongside 10,000 full-time undergraduate students. Edge Hill also has a strong proportion of international students - the university says the number of applications from abroad has increased fourfold in the past ten years.
Recently funding has been approved for a newly developed campus, a new technology hub, and additional labs for geosciences.
As the largest provider of taught postgraduate programmes in the UK, Edge Hill has lots of specialist support for postgraduate students. You can visit specific open days and request prospectuses to look through all of the different subjects you can study as a postgraduate student. Those who study for a master’s degree will be eligible to switch to a PhD if they change their mind.
Ormskirk is not too far from large cities such as Liverpool and Manchester, and is close to the Lake District.
Founded in 1885, Edge Hill University is a campus-based university situated in Lancashire.
