Overview of the Programme

This course will help you develop integral industry-relevant expertise to become an agile and adaptable computing specialist. This professionally-focussed programme gives students whose first degree isn't in computing (or whose computing degree was awarded some time ago), the skills needed to become a practising IT professional.

The course includes a variety of teaching which will equip you with the core knowledge to become an effective practitioner in the computing industry. You will be given rigorous insight into computer programming and database systems.

To apply your learning you will complete a project which typically involves the design and implementation of a significant piece of software. You will be supported and guided by experienced staff, to assist you in your studies.

  • We provide you with specialist, technical skills in the areas of networking, web and mobile development, or Professional Issues and Professional Practice;

Entry requirements

The standard entry requirement for the MSc programme is an Honours Degree of at least 2:2 classification or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a subject other than Computer Science. In some cases applicants with substantial commercial or industrial experience can be accepted, subject to interview and references.
