Course Summary

This course is designed to provide those who already have a Strength and Conditioning background (either academic or practice-based) with an opportunity to further develop their knowledge base, with a focus on honing your practical skills and applying them in a variety of settings. You will benefit from the opportunity to work with elite and recreational athletes and top level coaches across our academies in an environment that’s as close as it gets to a professional club. And our partnerships with professional clubs, governing bodies and other sports industry leaders will open doors to gaining real world experience away from our specialist campus too. There’s a strong emphasis on a motor learning and motor control approach to strength and conditioning practice, which will provide you with an advanced understanding of the transferability of physical training to sports performance.

You will develop your skills in applying good science in practice, with this evidence led programme complementing our existing postgraduate Coaching Science offer. While there are clear links between these areas, this programme is aimed at those seeking specific preparation for a career as a strength and conditioning coach. Our students go on to change the lives of professional athletes, as well as the people involved in community and school sports. They also graduate with valuable skills to succeed in a range of different careers. You will learn from lecturers who are also experienced industry professionals. Many have even been at the top their game in their specialist sporting areas. Part-time options are available.
