Course detail

Those who are qualified as mental health nurses, GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists are eligible to apply if they have significant prior clinical experience and have completed an Association for Family Therapy Accredited Intermediate Level training in Family Therapy/ Systemic Practice or equivalent. Graduates of the course are eligible for registration with the UK Council for Psychotherapy as Family and Systemic Psychotherapists and take up employment in NHS, Social care and Third Sector settings or practice independently. We will use a delivery method that will ensure students have a rich, exciting experience from the start. Face to face teaching will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that students also experience elements of digital learning and assessment.

Teaching and assessment

The primary methods of assessment for this course are written examinations, coursework and practical work (presentation of clinical work- Viva Voce). The study time and assessment methods typically give an indication of what to expect. However, these may vary depending upon the modules. The Family Therapy MSc confers eligibility for application for registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
